Hospital Trip

On Tuesday, Victoria went in for her big surgery (tonsil/adnoidectomy).  She was a Rockstar patient according to all of the nurses.  Papa actually believes them b/c she hardly complained afterward.  As you'll see, by 3pm, she felt well enough to eat a gargantuan meal including 2 pancakes, apple sauce, yogurt and apple juice.  She also ate her first 2 Popsicle of her life and watched more TV in one day than she usually does in a week...Papa was a sucker for her spoils!  Mama and Papa are very proud of her.

At shift change on Victoria's hospital floor, her attending nurse changed to a male and Victoria kept whining to Mama "No this man!".  Apparently, she was much more fond of the bilingual nurse she had during the day.

Unfortunately, reality began to set in during the overnight stay when Mama kept Victoria company.  As the strong pain meds wore off, V woke up crying and pointing to her mouth saying "Ow-wee"...poor thing.  Mama did a great job cuddling and comforting little Victoria through the night.

Back at home, Sissy (Caroline) was very happy to see her sister return.  The two girls have really become  such great little fans and buddies of each other, especially when they are apart.  During phone conversations (used loosely) they love to say "Hi Sissy" and "I love you" to each other.  It is very cute to hear.

We're all back at home now and keeping the meds flowing for little V. In the end, hopefully she'll get much better sleep..according to her sleep study, her sleep apnea was causing her to stop breathing 50+times/hour during her REM sleep- crazy!

C having fun at the Park.

A priceless pic of the 2 best friends.

Victoria's pout face b/c she did not want to eat lunch.

V's signature open palm slide move.  Maybe a future  Yoga Girl.

Nonnie and Pop sent some new "Dorothy Shoes" as a get well gift for Victoria and her # 1 fan, Caroline.

Having not eaten in almost 24 hours, V finally rally'd and devoured a huge plate of pancakes, apple sauce  and yogurt.

V was not interested in popsicles at first, but  she finally gave it a try.  Voila! She concluded that they are actually quite tasty.

A Couple Weeks in Review

The Girls are starting to gab quite a bit and want to do EVERYTHING themselves, whether it be opening doors or scrambling eggs!  With the warmer weather coming, we've been at the n'hood parks very often and  the Girls haven't become rusty at their playground skills over the winter.  In fact, they've  come out avid climbers.  Here is a brief recap of the past couple weeks.

C helped Papa make some M&M cookies one night and for the next few days, we all enjoyed a special treat at least 1x/day!  C is a magnet for sweets and V is generally unmoved by them.

After V spontaneously crawled into one of our big canvas bags, we decided to take turns being toted around the apartment.  Here is C and mama.  C originally was laying at the bottom of the bag.

You can't find this at Trader Joes!

Papa never knows what he'll find when he opens the Girls' door in the morning.  This time, the Girls were enjoying a diaper change w/ their buddies, Lovey's and animal friends.  Sometimes they actually use each other as their patients.
Here C  is changing Mono.  We love that they take the care to place the changing pad on the floor first.
After a failed train ride at the Zoo (see further down), we were shocked when V and C courageously started climbing up  a 2 story climbing maze in the air.  They absolutely loved it, although C gets a little nervous when things get crowded.

V was quite quick on the ropes course.
While we were picnic'ing at the Zoo, we were watching the little train ride go round 'n round.  While baiting a train ride in exchange for eating their sandwiches (they didn't bite by the way), we ended  up in a train shortly after.  We thought it was going to be a hit because they couldn't stop talking about it...but....

...as soon as they realized that the train was leaving the station w/out Mama y Papa, they lost it; totally lost it for the whole ride.  It was comical and every-so-slightly sad at the same time.

After work these days, we usually hit the sidewalks and go for a bike ride or  walk w/ their strollers.  Both of  the girls are getting the idea of pedaling.

Victoria and Caroline love hitting Mama's Beauty Salon.   Areli gives them amazing braids in their hair every day, so we do our best to keep them in form.

The Girls truly love each other.  When they  are (rarely) separated, they  can't stop asking about  "sissy".  Sometimes we'll call the other on the phone and the conversation usually is like this: "Hola Sissy.  I love you Sissy.  Bye Sissy."

We're pretty sure V didn't nap this day, but she was at least quiet in her room.  Now we  know why- she scaled the portable dresser to read her Clifford book. She was so proud.

Here is Caroline hanging out in our courtyard.
