Father's Day on the Cape

We headed back to the Cape to celebrate Father's Day and although there were a few more bumps along the road this year (i.e. food poisoning-Dad, crazy nap schedule-Girls), we all enjoyed ourselves.

Before we left, the girls had a Father's Day BBQ with all of their  special (grand)Dads.
The first day on the beach, Victoria was only interested in lounging with her snacks.
Some well-deserved R&R
Due to the cooler weather, we often had the beach to ourselves.
Dad teaching the Girls how to build a sand castle.
Our first kite flying experiment
Happy Father's Day!
We went for a hike one morning and Dad captured Victoria's favorite new face.  Smile Victoria!
Had to get a pic with the famous blue Cape Cod  hydrangeas.
By the last day, Victoria was quite the beach explorer.  She would run around looking at everything and  yelling, "!Agua! !Agua!"

The Girls also discovered the joy of running down a hill!  We did that ...a lot.

School's out for summer!

Everyone joined in Mom's excitement by getting summer off on the right foot with a dip in Lake Michigan.  C and V loved playing in the sand, but were very skeptical of the water.  We are hoping that they will warm up to large bodies of water during our trip to Cape Cod next week...

Summer Cold and Swim

During the last few weeks Victoria was fought through a horrible cold and fever, we visited Bang's Lake for the first time of the Summer and dined al fresco on our patio poolside.  Victoria has become very bashful and somewhat of a cling-on recently, while Caroline has become Ms. Outgoing who seems to have no fear.

Here is V during one of her low moments.  She ran a 103 fever at one point, but after several days made a turn for the better and is now back to her cheerful self.  She loves to play w/ her "Lovie's" ears.

After a challenging morning w/ V and C, Pop somehow instilled a calm w/ the Girls as they sat patiently playing with flash cards.  They loved to step on the cards and watch them stick to the bottoms of their feet.

Soon Cousin Amy will have one of these, but the male version.

Here is C enjoying the refreshing temp of Bangs Lake.  She didn't even mind a little seaweed.

V was not as comfortable in the water, but we'll keep trying.

Back at home, the Girls love to eat meals at their picnic table.  They can meander around and return to the table for a bite to eat at their leisure.  This meal was accompanied by a dip in the pool.

No rules preventing food in the pool at this house!  The Girls love the pool so much that when their suits and swim diapers are laid out for them, they immediately drop down and lay on the floor in a rare gesture of complete cooperation.

C and V both are sporting some swim shoes.  C fits in the suit that V wore last summer.

C has taken a recent liking to gardening.  Both of them love to fill  up buckets w/ water to feed the plants.

Returning with an empty watering can, probably saying "Ma(s)!)",  as in "More!"

The Girls still love to hang out and watch the passersby.

More and more we see them holding hands and walking around together, smiling  and giggling.

After Mom threw some new mulch on the drain cover, C decided that she'd fluff it up a bit.
